  1. The scientific name for that condition is Malocclusion.

There are 2 different set of teeth in rabbits:

    - 2 pairs of incisors (that you can see): to graze

    - 6 pairs of molars (inside the mouth): to chew

Rabbit's teeth do grow all their life: if nothing stops them, they carry on growing. Eventually, they get too big and create ulcers into the mouth.

The process that avoid that is the teeth grinding against each other. Well, malocclusion is when the teeth do not grind against each other. This problem is frequently seen in many rabbits but mainly in Dwarf lops. It is a frustrating problem but one that can be managed. I recommend that you visit your local vet. He might suggest:

    - Diet change: avoid pelleted mixes and increase roughage (hay) to increase chewing behaviour

    - Introduction of chewing toys: wooden sticks and others

    - Treatment: trimming of the front teeth is possible on a conscious rabbit. However, your vet might recommend to remove surgically (under anaesthesia) both pairs of incisors. I recommend the latter as the solution of choice.

The vet will also check the molars using an otoscope (tools used to take a look into ear canals introduced into the mouth of the bunny) and advice regarding their condition.

    Best wishes, Julien

  3. VET ASAP! trust me the teeth can go right through the gums and they can get absesses! i would suggest you insure your rabbit as well tho =]

  4. Need to take to vet for a trim asap. Also need to give him plenty of things to chew on.

  5. TAKE HIM/HER TO THE VET

MY RABBIT DIED BECASUE WE DIDNT REALIZE TILL THE LAST MINUTE  AND THEN AT THE VETS HE DIED OF FRIGHT

JUST TAKE HIM/HER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

    HOPE IVE HELPED

  6. You need to take him to a vet to get them trimmed!

If you don't, they may literally break through the roof of his mouth and push through, in extreme cases.

Rabbit's teeth constantly grow and some breeds are prone to worse problems- you need to take them to a vet and they'll sort them out and tell you how to do it monthly, to keep them trimmed.

  7. Yeah its good to provide them with something to chew on that helps keep their teeth from getting to long.

As for the situation now, take him to a vet to get them trimmed.

  8. According to my TAFE book, you're suppose to provide rabbits with wood sticks to chew on to keep their teeth from overgrowing. You should be able to buy them from pet stores.
