when i hold my rabbit on my stomach or chest he will, on occasion, use both his front paws simultaneously to perform a digging action. its normally one big scoop at a time but it really hurts. im not sure what i could be doing to inspire such action, but it has left me bleeding. any thoughts?

  1. Hey,

If u don't let him go outside to dig he/her will try and dig into anything it finds!

    Hope This Helps!!!

  2. 1. he could be frigtened as rabbits are natrually prey animals they dont likebeing picked up...try sitting down on floor holding a treat and letting bun come to you.

2.if not neutered it could be hormonal try getting neutered

  3. hello there

the rabbit, from my guess,is hurt by the way you hold him.make sure when you hold him that you don't squeeze him hard.maybe this is why he's "literally digging you".

or maybe your rabbit may have hurt himself on the stomache part.he may be internally hurt in those parts.in that case, take him to the vet.he may be suffering right now in pain.

    good luck with him.

  4. You should be very flattered!!! Rabbits burrow, and your rabbit is telling you that your tummy is where they want to be! They also like to roll and bathe and defecate in sand or dirt. I'm not saying you are dirty, just that your rabbit likes to manipulate your garments for better relaxing. We take our rabbits out with halter and leash. They love to dig in mole piles and play in the dirt. They also do their p**p and pee in dirt.

You have to keep your rabbits claws trimmed, then it won't hurt as much.
