I just found a dead baby bunny in my rabbits pet. She had it out in the open, in the sun. She started making a nest last night, and pulled out tons of her hair. I dont know it it was her first one, or how many she will have. I didnt really think she was pregnant b.c she didnt get all that big. Right now she's out in her pen, we have a little hut for her, but my other female rabbit and goats are out with her. Anything I should do??

  1. That might have been the only one she is going and was going to have if she really dint get that big at allbut you never no some rabbit breeds dont no what to do with there babys at all thats why its recomended if u no shes going to give birth you should watch her for a couple hours!!!

Maybe buy a nesting box place it in the area where she made her nest and watch if she has more or not!!

  2. Rabbits have poor maternal instincts. Often their first litter will be born dead. If your rabbit is a dwarf rabbit, the baby may have been a "peanut". Peanuts are often born dead because of the double dwarf gene. If they aren't born dead they are destined to die soon.

If your rabbit had the baby a while ago, I'd take her to an ER vet for a litter of one isn't very common. She probably retained (is that the right word?) some fetuses, and that isn't good.

If you're home alone without a driver's license, you should keep the rabbit away from the other animals, just as a precaution. Then call your parents and tell them about how she might have retained a fetus.

Edit: Dang I forgot what to say if she is currently having the babies. If she is currently having the babies, there is not much you can do. She already made her nest (hopefully in a nest box) and it's pretty much up to her to go in it to have the babies. I don't think you want to disturb her in the middle of birthing.
