now started to dry out.

I want to wipe down his nose obviously and clean it but have no Idea what I should use.

Should I just use water? also, will I be ok putting a normal bandage/plaster or something on it to protect it from becoming infected? If not what can I use?

Please help asap!

He chewed the wire mesh on the front of his cage trying to stick his head through and cut his nose before anybody asks. Its a stupid thing I know and he will be getting a new cage this evening.. Please can people just help me sort out his nose.. Its not that bad the cut I'm jst scared incase it gets infected!

  1. You can use a q tip  with warm water to clear his nostrils however do not clean the wound itself for the next day so it has time to heal up enough not to bleed more when you clean it. After a day use warm water and a q tip to clean the cut. Put a small amount of neosporan on it and reapply every day at least once a day twice at the most. This way any bacteria will be stopped in its tracks. And mend the wiring ASAP maybe find something else for your bunny to entertain itself with. Normally whne they chew wiring they are lacking entertainemnt or some nutrition. Check with a vet to see what you can offer your little wabbit.

  2. with a wet towel, gently wipe it :)

  3. Cotton wool pads and a little warm salt water should do it. Be firm with your rabbit when doing it, as he won't like it.

Keep it clean over the next few days and if there is any sign of infection, get him to the vet immediately as you don't want pasteurella or some other nasty rabbit killer to get in there.

In fact, as a precaution, I would ring a vet for advice just incase.

  4. I would use good old fashioned warm salt water! don't put a plaster or anything on it :-) just leave the air to get to it, and keep an eye on it. x

  5. yea i think a soft wet tissue would be fine maybe puy a little vaseline on it to keep off infection

  6. Lightly wet his/her nose first then use an anti-septic wipe.  If your worried take him/her to the vet they will help :)

  7. Okay all you have to do is wipe it off with warm soapy water and make sure that it's clean. You can put a tiny bit of iodine on it but don't go over board. You don't need to put any bandages on it, it will heal better if it has air on it. Good luck!
