Hi, I have 7 rabbits, but something came up that ive never had before. WEll, this one rabbit has huge hair loss and when I pet it it feels like a dog. She has red spote, but I dont think it is irritation. I dont see anything wrong with her. One more thing I did have a male in with her and the other females not knowing it was a male. So, i guess she could be pregnant, but since they have huge holes in the dirt I cant see the whole hole so she could have a nest way back! I didnt see any stray fir though.

  1. She could be pregnant, however there should be no irritation or red spots.

If your rabbits aren't getting the right nutrients, they might be eating the hair of the others, to try to get what they need.

Try puttign in a salt, and mineral block, along with rabbit pellets, and fresh fruit, veggies, water, and hay. If it still continues, she could have righworms, I would call the vet. I doubt this is a serious matter, unless of course she's pregnant, then you need to get the male out of there, and probably the other females, because she may turn aggressive, if she is pregnant.

Keep an eye on her, then if it continues, call the vet, and see what they suggest.

  2. well it might seem to be pregnant like you said but your best bet would be to take her to the vet just in case cause its better to be safe than sorry especially if you have never seen this before.

  3. You should not keep the male in with her 24/7 you need to separate them ASAP he is doing that to her and it could become a fight for her life if he breaks her skin and offends her. Never leave them in with each other all the time, the males should not be have access to the females all the time or they could end up killing each other. Even in the wild the female is able to run and get away from a male whereas you keeping them in a cage together she has no where to run to get away from him.
