  1. just cut her hair down there.

  2. Rabbits that constantly have faeces stuck to their bottoms have an underlying problem.

Lack of fibre - hay is very important in their diet and too little hay is bad for their digestive system. Give as much hay as the rabbits will eat.

Inbalanced diet - rabbits that have a hugh amount of fresh greens and lettuce will get the above problems too

see my site for things to feed your rabbit

Make sure your rabbit has a balanced diet of veg and pellets and do not over feed them

Lack of exercise - A rabbit that has less than 5 hours exercise a day and too much food will become unhealthy and have the above problems. being overweight will also shorten your rabbits life.

Your rabbit needs to be able to exercise to also help the digestive tract muscles do there job of breaking down the food and digesting it into the system properly

Lack of good bacteria in the intestine - some rabbits, especially after veterinary treatment can lack in good bacteria in the gut. This can cause digaestion problems. Add a probiotic poweder to the food or water to increase the bacteria.

Too small and unclean cage - If a cage is too small then the rabbits will not be able to move enough to get away from the droppings it produces. Ceaoptrophs will get stuck to the rabbits bottom. These are raspberry shaped droppings which the rabbit produces every day to re digest for vitamins. Make sure your cage is adequate enough for 2 rabbits of the breed that you have

Make sure that you clear the cage of droppings everyday and throughly clean out the cage once a week. This will also prevent flystrike.

  3. Buy some rabbit shampoo and bathe her bottom with lukewarm water (just her bottom not the whole rabbit). Rabbits sometimes get dirty from time to time in the bum region especially as they get rather elderly. There's nothing you can do to encourage her to clean herself more. Just keep her and her cage clean. I sometimes find they go through phases of being dirty and then the next day they'll be perfectly clean.

  4. My rabbit has this as well. She shares a cage with her sister, but her sister does not get it. I don't know why they do, nor do I know what you can do to help prevent it. It might help to keep her cage extra clean? It's good that you're removing it everyday, but please keep at eye out for flies - the little buggers like to lay eggs which could lead to fly strike which can be potentially lethal. If you're really that worried, take her to see the vet - it's better to be safe than sorry :)

  5. She is probabley sitting on it. Make sure her cage is always clean! Any more questions e-mail me at kcrabbitry@gmail.com

  6. Toilet Train It !

  7. Firstly - is it the sticky poo or the hard, round stuff?

I'm going to assume it's the sticky poo, because that's the stuff that usually causes problems. Rabbit can normally bend down and eat these as they emerge from their a**s, but if they are overweight or producing too many of these caecotrophs then it's probably a dietary/digestive issue.

My main advice would be to look at what you are feeding your rabbit every day. Do they eat any rabbit food/pellets? If so they should be eating no more than one large TABLESPOON every day, the rest of their diet should be entirely made up of grass and hay. Rabbit feeding bowls are MUCH larger than they really need to be.

My rabbit was very overweight when I first rescued him and had the exact same problem that you are describing.

Initial action - clean the a**s area every day and VERY gently trim any excessively dirty or clumped hair away

Long-term action - feed the rabbit with a low-calorie pellet (Excel Supa Lite is good), and cut out all treats such as yoghurt drops and stickletreats.

Less indigestible food = less sticky poo!

Less sticky poo = trimmer bunny!

Trimmer bunny = happier, healthier bunny (who can bend down and clean his/her own bottom!)

  8. Your poor rabbit, take it to the vet or use warm water to help it clean...

Id report abuse on the last answer, the stupid girl with the stuffing comment. cos its hilarious your rabbit is in pain isnt it? i wonder if sh'ed like poo stuck on her bum!

Good luck with your lovely littly rabbit, i hope she feels better soon,

  9. I assume you mean it's stuck to the fur, rather than stuck in her bum.

Yes - This can happen some times and you have to watch out for it.

Also, I'm not saying you don't look after her properly, but this happens a lot more frequently if the hutch or cage is not cleaned out frequently enough because they are sitting on the poo and it gets squished into the fur.

  10. Classic case, somebody is coming down

at night & 'doing stuff' to the poor wabbit.

Are you sure its 'poo', it may be a nice

    lavender & beetroot stuffing.

  11. Horrid..poor bunny...mine had this too recently.

She's eaten TOO many fresh greens....use drier food for your lovely bun bun for a few days and she'll be better soon!!

Also try using warm water on cotton wool to clean her bum and then dry it with cotton wool too.

Much nicer than picking it off.

    Ouch!

Actually check out the internet for facts on blowflies (horrid and nasty but worth a look in this situation. I found out that you can buy rearguard from most UKvets to prevent blowfly attacks for about £22!)

Sorry to be so gross.....but make sure that you clean out bunnies hutch every day....esp. when it's warm and she's got a dirty bum!

    Good luck bunny friend

Give her a hug from me x

  12. Too many treats can cause soft poos that stick to your rabbit, this happened to mine and it was the chocolate drops that did this.   Also another rabbit had this problem and we bathed her every day with warm water, the vet finally diagnosed her with bowel cancer.
