  1. Okay no ticks won't harm him, unless hes heavily infested with the b*ggers. It you just pull them out the feeders/legs will be left in side he these can cause infections, with might need a trip to the vets.

But removing ticks shouldn't if done properly need a vets attention.

Right then,to remove them apply some vaseline or just some plain old cooking oil,as it suffocates the ticks,The ticks should just fall out after a day of applying the oil thickly. If this doesn't work, which it should do,but if it doesn't just buy a cheep flea spray for cats or rabbits & spray lightly on the tick this ALWAYS works,as the cats rarely get ticks & i just spray a little flea killer on the tick as it easier than putting oil on them for a day.

Some ticks CAN carry "Lymes disease" which can paralyze some animals though absolutely no cases have been reported in rabbits. BUT & heres the but, cases of "Lymes Disease" Has been reported in people so be VERY careful as Lymes disease is very nasty. Just type in "Lymes Disease" in you don't believe me.

If you have an on going problem contact your local council as they send specially trained people over to wipe out the ticks.

Hope this helps & i havent worried you too much! =O

  2. go to the vet, they can help you

  3. My friends got this really cool 'tick twister' which are like a bit like tweezers but are better for the purpose. All you do is clasp them over the head of the tick and gently twist until the whole thing just pops out.

This sounds easy enough but the problem occurs when you find that the head is still stuck in the fur. If this happens it is best to take him to the vet to get it out because it can hust him. Hope this helped. x

  4. Here are a few ideas.

Take him to the vet, they'll get them off and you won't have to worry about it getting infected.

You could try pulling it off youself. Get some tweezers and try not to leave the head in the skin.

You could go to a pet store and get anti tick shampoo made for RABBITS!

I would take him to the vet. I hope you get them off!

  5. They are very easy to remove and it is a very fast procedure.  I just removed a tick from my rabbit a few weeks ago.  What you'll need: Clean tweasers, a small bowl with rubbing alcohol, a wet wash cloth, gentle soap, rubber gloves, and possibly an assistant.  What to do: Keep the bowl of alcohol next to you because that is where you are going to put the ticks.  Make sure your rabbit doesn't drink it though!  I would recommend wearing rubber gloves during the procedure.  Pet your rabbit and get him to relax.  Find where the tick is and try to push away surrounding hair with one hand.  With the other hand, use the clean tweasers to pinch the tick at the lowest part of it.  Slowly pull the tick out and quickly drop it into the alcohol.  Your rabbit shouldn't feel much pain so don't worry.  It may be difficult to keep him still though.  Once the tick is gone, keep an eye on that area.  Put a small amount of gentle soap and rub it around.  Use the wet wash cloth to remove all of the soap.  You can even dry him with a towel when you're done.  No, the ticks will not harm your rabbit but they can cause infection.  Keep an eye on your rabbit after the tick is removed to make sure he's acting like his usual self.  There may be a small scab where the tick was for a couple days but that's nothing to worry about.  Good luck!

  6. Yeah.

Go to your local pet shop and ask for some tick shampoo.

If they don't supply it, then go to the vets :]

  7. ticks or fleas?

fleas you can remove by hand and stick to some tape and throw out.. check for eggs too..

ticks are trickier.. you can ask somebody for help - you need to burn them with a hot nail so they pull their heads out and then stick them to tape and throw away.
