  1. Sounds like a pretty terrible breeder if she's recommending you just up and backyard breed your rabbit.

The only suitable answer here is to spay your female and get her a neutered male. A guinea pig is not an acceptable companion for rabbits and there are more than enough homeless rabbits in the world already without another being backyard bred.

You can try finding an already neutered male to adopt: http://www.petfinder.com

  2. Law L said it all!!

I have a friend who fosters rabbits through our local pound. Do you realize how many rabbits get dumped off at animal shelters?! A lot of people don't, and therefor they aren't adopted a lot of the times, and most of them end up euthanized.

Not very fair to the rabbit.

Get another female, OR get a neutered male and spay yours (the best option)

  3. 1.) No. Backyard breeding is BAD. It's not a solution to your problems. You already have ONE lonely rabbit- if she has babies, you may end up with seven or more unwanted, lonely rabbits. Breeding isn't a game.

2.) Guinea pigs and rabbits should not go together, so that's out. It causes injury and disease.

3.) BEST option! No babies, no distress, and they always get on the best (after the right introduction.)

4.) Clearly, you don't want to do this.

  4. Female rabbit friend is the absolute best idea. You should leave the breeding to the breeders, there's a lot involved and there's enough rabbits in Australia as it is. Never mix rabbits and guinea pigs. One of the biggest reasons, for example if yours was a male rabbit, and you bought a guinea pig as a companion, he would do permanent internal damage to the guinea pig, because rabbits can't control themselves when they get frisky. I lost my guinea pig from an ectopic pregnancy after I separated my buck rabbit from my doe guinea pig and put a male pig in with her. Rabbits have a different reproductive shape, so they end up splitting their insides open.

Safest bet would be to add a female rabbit. They'll be besties.

  5. do the rabbit idea. get her spayed and get her a friend :D
