  1. Contrary to popular belief, rabbits are not silent animals.  The honking noise that you hear her responding to the interruption.  You may also hear a slight wheezing coming from your rabbit, often when you pick her up and hold her upside down.  Both are perfectly normal.

At five months of age, it is possible that your rabbit can be coming into heat.  There is no sound that she will make to indicate such, instead you may see her discharging.

You may want to consider having her spayed.  Research has demonstrated that the average lifespan of domesticated rabbits is exponentially increased as this lessens the incidents or ovarian cancer in female rabbits.  Your veterinarian will be able to discuss these options with you.

Good luck with your rabbit.  I'm sure you will find that she will provide you with many good memories.

  2. it is very normal i have a rabbit named carmel i should know

  3. well ..

if she is disturbed by something, then this is normal.

  4. When you're disturbed or frightened don't YOU make a noise too?

  5. Lots of females make this honking noise. One of mine does this when she is eating, grooming, or if she wants out of her cage. This usually happens only in un-spayed female rabbits. My other rabbit used to growl all the time, but she stopped once she was fixed.

  6. when rabbits feel that their tooth are too long, they will find something to bite or chew... so u need to prepare so wood or old book to let them chew...

If the rabbits are yelling, maybe they are feeling pain or suffering. normally this will happen when rabbits are having s*x.

  7. Some rabbits are just very noisy.  I have five and only one is loud.  He honks/squeaks when he eats, is cleaning himself, or just because.  It's just how some rabbits are.

  8. Rabbits do not actually go into heat. When they mature (which is about at the age of your bunny) they become ready to mate and do experience an increase in hormones which may affect their behavior and/or attitude. This generally shouldn't cause any extra noises though, besides perhaps angry growls if you bug her in some way.

The sound you describe sounds normal though, rabbits do make quite a bit of noise, especially if they are disturbed or upset.
