I have a shure radio mic i use at work and for some reason its started to cut out every so often so i have to switch it off and then on again for it to work.

The antenna on the reciever is on full and im even using the mic only 2 metres from the reciever.

Ive changed the battery 3 times with new powerful duracell batteries and ive also made sure the battery connection is firm and secure.

please note that when the mic cuts out the sound the green light on the mic IS STILL ON*****

this has happened once before and for some reason corrected itself eventually,

why is it doing this?

  1. Since the power indicator on the mic is still on, the issue isn't with the batteries.  There could be some signal interference cutting the signal to the wireless receiver.  Are you using a program board with this mic setup??  If so, there may be issues with the board... perhaps with the board's pre-amp, or with the mic processor (if that's in the signal path also).

More diagnosis needs to happen here - look along the signal path and test connections at each juncture.  Maybe your problem is in the mic cables running out of the receiver, perhaps there's an intermittent problem with the receiver's mic connection (the jack that the cord plugs into).  Have you noticed a "pop" when the audio cuts out?

You're using the mic 2 meters away from the receiver, do you HAVE to use a wireless mic?  Test if the problem is with the receiver itself, or the signal from the receiver by taking it out of the chain completely.  Wire the mic directly and if the problem occurs again, start looking at the board, the connection to the board, the cables, etc.
