  1. i currently work on an online radio station called livinfm.net

it is relatively new and is in the process of moving servers, so it looks a bit shabby at the moment.

i am 16 and i do a show on here 3 times a week (tuesday 9-10pm) friday (10-12pm) sunday (6-7pm), and it is a great experiance.  if you want to get a show on this station email either contact@the-james-show.tk (thats mine)

    or

    email  djsooty@livinfm.net

    he owns the station.

up side of using someone elses station. you don't have to pay. BARGAIN!

from this i have also learnt how to podcast, and now my podcast is available on the itunes music store which is very popular..

  2. See if your school has a radio station or anything, if not... suggest it. :D I'm 16 and in charge of my school station, when you've got a school's funding behind you you can get some pretty decent kit.

At home it all depends what level you want to do it at. You can spend a fiver up to several grand. Most people are happy enough with Sam Broadcaster (which is good for playing music and jingles and streaming) but it costs, I believe Winamp and shoutcast work together well and both are free and then some cheapo mic. If you've got a broadband connection then you should be okay to stream to the internet although for copyrighted music you technically need licenses to legally play that music.

Take a look at the school station I run, old pictures, looks really different (better) now but you get the general picture of the money that goes in, the general output is often really good, again within the school we have the opportunity to do FM broadcasts (like a 7mile radius).

Here's what most "bedroom dj's" like to use for software:
