When my two male lorikeets are fighting, they tend to stick out their tongues and vibrate them rapidly as a sign of aggression. Today one of my boys was looking at himself in the mirror and made a new gesture - he didn't so much stick out his tongue as touch its tip to the base of his beak (like if a person touched the inside of their lower lip with their tongue) and opened and closed his beak quickly. Has anybody else seen a bird do this? I'm interested to know what it means.
