MY MONTH OLD BABY RAT GOT OUT OF HER CAGE, AND I HAVE NO CLUE WHERE SHE IS. WE THINK SHE MIGHT BE IN THE WALL. WE BOUGHT A CAGE FROM PETCO THAT IS LIKE A CAT TRAP, BUT FOR RATS..AND WE PUT PEANUT BUTTER IN IT. IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO CATCH HER, AND WILL SHE BE OK?

  1. First. Check the wall. Set up your traps. ( Probably with cheese or rat treats) Then just wait

  2. Well do you have any cats or dogs? if you do let them outside durring the night or put them in a kennal. If you do have cats then let them roam all day but keep a good eye on them, they will be roaming because they can smell the baby rat, and they could eventually lead you to your rat! But if you don't have any cats then get a really big bucket and put a towel at the bottom of it. Then put her favorite food inside of the bucket on the towel. (Try to make the food be strong scented to rats.) And then put books leading up to the top of the bucket like a staircase. So then she smells the food and wants some, and climbs the book staircase, and falls into the bucket (don't worry it won't hurt her if you put a towel at the bottom,) and can't get out until you come home or until the morning!

    HOPE THIS HELPS! (  =   <3

  3. you could put rat food in a little bowl and set in the middle of your room on the floor. if you go and check on it every now and then and some is gone, then you know she is close by and if she is getting in the wall she can get out. my hamster got out a few years ago and a looked everywhere and i found him under my dresser.

hope you find your baby =(

p.s put towels under doors because small animals can get under them and go in other rooms

  4. OH NO....no peanut butter, it will suffocate them, i did that once before she almost died in my hands!!!

Mine always came when it made a clicking sound, and chicken bones with a little meat on them..they LOVE chicken, at least all mine did, just wave it in front of whatever they're under and then place it in middle of floor and snatch them up when they come out.. OH NO....no peanut butter, it will suffocate them, i did that once before she almost died in my hands!!!

  5. DO NOT USE PEANUT BUTTER.

Peanut butter is very harmful to rats.

Instead, use something strong smelling and SAFE, like cheese. Also, if your rat is being kept alone, I don't blame her for escaping. Get her a friend ! PLEASE research rats before you just go out and buy them.

  6. OMG! my hamster got stuck in the wall once.  we cut a hole in the walla and put a tube leading to her cage in the wall.

maybe you can get a rat tube or something and try this maybe.

  7. My friend's hamster(not rat) once escaped from her cage because it wasn't securely closed. she called me and i told her to leave the cage on the floor and the door open. after a few days, they found the hamster in their maid's room. so same here. just leave snacks and food in the cage and it will survive, don't worry! you will find it soon.
