  1. I have 2 rats and they want to be on the floor as well. I take them in a room where there is nothing that they can hurt or be hurt by and let them down. Just make sure they can't get under the door. It is good for them to get down and play for a while. Plus it's good quality time with them that they need. They love to play with their owners. After a while they get tired and you can put them away. If you don't want them on the floor there is no real way of stopping them except to keep them in the cage.

  2. ok well if you have a clean room just let her roam around (door shut)

  3. just let her roam around on the floor.  What's so wrong about that?

  4. Get a play pen. Your rats need to be able to run on the floor

  5. This is very normal for rats, their natural instincts are to get on the floor. My rats do this all the time. Maybe you could close off one room without much furniture and no carpet, eg. the kitchen, and let your rat run around there. By the way, make sure there is no cords or cables that your rat can chew. This way you can always make sure you know where your rat is. Hope this helps!

  6. you could get, or make, a small lightweight harness and let her roam then. because with the harness you can always get her back and limit where she can and can't go. you could also take her outside, weather permitting, and with a harness it'd be safer. i only say maybe make one, because female rats won't fit into any of the "rat harnesses" in pet stores. and most males won't either. i used this for both my ferrets and my rats: http://www.petcompany.co.uk/acatalog/fou...

it's one string and adjust small enough for ratties!

  7. Nope. Not really anything you can do. But you can do a lot of things to make her playtime in the floor enjoyable. You can take cardboard moving boxes, cut one side so you can open it, and make a fence. Put lots of toys and treats (hiding some of them). You can use coke boxes, tubes, soe boxes with windows and doors cut out, chew toys, etc to make it fun. They also have playpens you can buy for small animals. It's good exercise for them to get out and run around sometimes. Just be sure to do it at a certain time each day so she doesn't charge the door each time you open it thinking it's playground time.

  8. Let your rat play in the bathtub! Mine absolutely love it, especially on a warm day. Just make sure there is nothing on the edge that she can get into, like soap or shampoo.
