  1. thats usually oil from his fur because they are slimy creatures

they also do not have a large bladder so they go when they are walking

Usually they have no control over their exoelling of bodily fluids so they even go in their food and water.

  2. well maybe its just scared.  If his cage has metal bars take it put it in the grass and put him in it.  Or you can make or buy a cage so he can run outside without getting lost.

  3. its a dang rat ...

  4. dont take him out till he learns a lesson

  5. a diaper.

  6. take him to the vets and theyll give him a urine test and tablets :)

    get well soon scooter!

  7. What you have there is a male rat. There's really nothing much you can do about it, there's nothing wrong with him, and rats can too control their bowels! :P My fellows are potty trained, but boys just loooove to mark their territory. Getting him fixed can sometimes stop this, but since you don't want to do that there's really nothing to be done about it. I have 5 boys, so believe me.. I know. ;P Just keep paper towels and cleaning stuff around and take him out on hard surfaces so it's easy to just wipe up. As for your clothes, maybe dedicate a set or two purely to rat handling, so you don't mind if they get pee on them.

  8. it's like courtney said. he's marking. mine do it all the time. even one of my girls, the alpha girl. she marks everything and all of my boys do it. there is nothing wrong with him at all. just accept it and don't punish him for what is an animal's nature or try to litter train him as some suggested. i keep a cage or pan near and they pee/p**p in that but when they run over me, my ds, t.v. remotes, anything really, they mark. they want to show that that item or person belongs to them.

  9. Wife: Honey, maybe you should call a certified vet

Husband: I have a better idea!! I'll just get on Yahoo answers and get some REAL advice!!

  10. Sounds like the Rat Clap. Or Rat Ronorhea. Is it worth taking it to a Vet? Is it old?

  11. a lot of pet rats do this. i don't think there really is anything you can do apart from toilet train them with a littler tray (sounds silly i know lol) but even then they still might wee when their out the cage. I have female rats and they do the same and it is really annoying but they have to have a run around so we just make sure we have a sponge and some disenfectant spray at the ready!

  12. Rodents have no control over there bowels, so it isn't possible for him to help peeing all over.

  13. I have had pet rats & only one male did that. I think he was just trying to mark his territory. He was always healthy in every other way.
