Its randomly flipping through channels as if it is searching the channels and when i turn the tv off it turns itself back on and so basically the only way to get it to quit or turn off i have to unplug it....it only started yesterday. The time warner cable people updated the box...could that have anything to do with it....and has anyone else's RCA tv done this?

  1. I THINK you have a STUCK BUTTON on  your TV set or the remote....

That causes your symptoms....and most likely it will be the channel up or down button since that's what it does all the time....

RCA TV sets will turn on if ANY BUTTON is depressed...that is how some of their TV sets are designed. Now you know why you have to unplug it to keep it turned off....

I would depress each and every button on the TV's front panel, and then put the remote in another room or drawer for starters..

IF the TV stops misbehaving then you know the remote or the front panel fixed it...

IF NOT then you know the computer inside the TV set is bad and requires a service call.....

If it's normal, and you pull out the remote afterwards and it goes NUTS again, then you know the remote is bad.

  2. have the time warner cable people check it out.

  3. A couple things you can try. First is to unplug the TV for about thirty seconds then plug it back in. And try it , Now if that does not help, try changing the batteries in your remote, I know it sounds crazy but it happens sometime. Give them both a try.
