My reciever has the "PROTECT" sign on when I turn the volume up past 2.?

I have a Sony STR-D315 Stereo Reciver with some yamaha floor speakers. When I turn the volume up past 2, it turns off and the PROTECT sign comes on the screen. I can't get it to work and it's a really big hassle. Please Help Me!!!!

You are overloading the speakers. You need to either get speakers that can handle the power from the amp or get a less powerful amp.

your speakers are not set up correctly. Never parallel or series connect speakers, always use the correct impedance speakers. Never use speakers that you do not know what the Z of the speaker is.
