I have a side by side. The freezer side shuts very tightly but the other doesn't. It seems as if it is barely closed. Food is not staying cold enough.

  1. GE refrigerators have plastic cam risers on the bottom of the door to help close and stay shut, if they break you will have this problem with the door, look at the bottom of the other door and you will see what I mean!

  2. Make sure the gasket is clean and pliable

Make sure the refrigerator is properly leveled

Make sure the hinges close properly, that no one has put too much weight on the door, bending them.

  3. You can also make sure that you don't have too much weight on the door.  Try moving some heavier items to the shelves and see if that works.

  4. try cleaning where the door mates against the refridgerator, it may just be that the door gasket is dirty. if that doesn't help make sure there isn't something on the shelf on the door thats preventing it from shutting correctly. if neither of those work check to see that your door hinge is screwed in tightly so that the hinge is where it belongs and the door hasn't drooped at the far edge.

  5. Try the following - Clean the door magnet (dirt can seperate the door from the magnet)

    - check the door hinges a in place

    - move the heavier items to the main shelves

    - use some wax sealant (so the door closes better)
