The power was out last night but came back on early this morning. I got home from work at 6:30 this evening and everything inside the freezer is thawed, the fridge is not cooling, but the light inside is ON. It just is not running. What could it be?

  1. Power surge might have blown it out.  In which case, your homeowners insurance should cover it.

  2. The compressor is probably burning hot, having been cycling on external overload.Unplug it for 6 hours and let the compressor cool. Then plug it back in and it'll probably be fine.Good luck.

  3. MORE THAN LIKLY IT TRIPPED A BREAKER WHEN IT WENT OFF OR CAME BACK ON,CHECK YOUR BREAKERS,IF ONE IS NOT SET LIKE THE OTHERS,PUSH IT ALL THE WAY BACK,THEN PUSH IT FOWARD ALL THE WAY

  4. throw away all thats been thawed   ..u can refreeze some stuff but u have to cook it asap and refreeze

  5. You may have experienced a power spike which shorted out the compressor .
