when the arm is up it doesn't make the noise. It sounds like it's trying to draw the water in to make the ice, or the water is there and it's trying to make ice. Now that I put the arm back up it's still making the noise. It's a kenmore

  1. could be an ice cube stuck in it

  2. It may just be what it does. When I was a kid, my family had an ice maker that would make alot of noise, but it was normal.

  3. it depends on the make of the kenmore. if the model starts with 417.xxxxxxx then its a frigidaire, if its 106.xxxxxx its a whirlpool. if its making noise when the arm is down, its most likely the water valve opening. it will do this even if you dont have water hooked up to it. if its a 106, and you have water hooked to it, and it used to work....then it most likely has a bad module (motor gear).
