My refrigerator wasn't getting cold enough...?

...and I checked out the back of the fridge. There was a tube going into the fridge that had air going through it...but it had a large crack in it. I decided to seal the hole up, and now my refrigerator seems colder. Have I solved the problem, and what was the problem, if there was one? I'd like to know, because I'm thinking about just buying a new one. Thankyou!

  1. It sounds like you fixed it

  2. It depends on what you used to repair it. You might want to replace that tube.

Some refrigerators use the cold (kind of second-hand) air from the freezer to cool the refer box.

You didn't give a diameter of the hose and I'm guessing that is what it's for.

Even if you have to pay to get it replaced it would be cheaper in the long run.

  3. In most refrigerators, there is a fan in the freezer section that blows cold air into the refrigerator part.  If the fan motor fails or if there is a leak ( like yours ) the refrigerator part will not get cold enough.

Make sure your refrigerator is cold enough, if it is - you are all set.
