  1. Your doctor should have told you that something like 25% of all blood screening tests come back positive, but in reality it's a very tiny percentage that actually have Downs or trisomy 13 or 18, like a tenth of a percent. The problem with those tests are the amount of false positives, so don't worry about it. If you want you can get further tests like the NT ultrasound or an amnio to know for sure.

  2. Well my blood test indicated a 1 in 26,000 chance, but then they still told me that my baby might have downs because she had 3 abnormalities (blood in bowels, single umbilichal artery and excess fluid in head). Anyway decided not to have the amnioscentesis as I wouldn't have had the heart to hurt my baby regardless, and she came out perfect in every way, have never even had to take her to hospital in her 2 and a half years of life. Don't stress too much, the risk is still VERY small even when the test comes positive.

  3. Mine did too and I flipped out.  We scheduled an ultrasound and there was the possibilty of an amnio - I refused.

Everything is fine - I have a healthy happy 5 year old snoring in the next room.

Call your doctor's office with the next steps, follow them, and chances are that everything will be just fine.
