Question:

My right bike brake is tougher to pull in them my left?

I was adjusting the positioning of my brake lever on my bike and now my right brake is not as smooth to pull as my left. The brakes are shimano alivio and I have a specialized globe sport. Any suggestions? Is this okay? I don't think the cable is too tight, I didn't adjust anything other than titling the brake lever/ shifter down. Thanks so much.

  1. I think I know. If your shifter and your brake lever are separate, you have probably pushed the brake lever down into the operating area of the shifter. Either tilt the shifter down as much as you tilted the brake lever, or return the lever to it's original position.

You may have also accidentally disengaged the cables from the cable guides. Make sure the housing is seated into all of the correct areas.

  2. Hmmm. That sounds weird. Maybe the you are just not used to the new positioning, or maybe you need new cables.
