  1. My left eye started bothering me May 31st. When I woke up a million times that night, I found my eye matted shut and it was burning like h**l.  I took my contact out and tried to go back to bed. The next day I just sat at home, with my left eye closed, trying to get through it...I thought I knew what I had (since the same thing happened about 10 years ago) and I was waiting to make an eye appointment Monday morning.  I called my eye Dr. first thing Monday and went to see them.

Sure enough, it was a corneal ulcer.  I wear my contacts ALL of the time, and don't replacement them nearly as often as I should, so I did it to myself.

The Dr's orders?  Throw away my contacts, throw away the case, throw away all eye makeup I used for the previous week, and take Zylet (anti-microbial eye drops). Last time I had the infection I had to use drops and hot compresses for a week before it felt better. This time, my eye felt 10000x times better the very next day.  It was still a week before I could go back to the Dr. and try to get fitted for contacts again, but I'm very happy about how it all turned out.  The only problem I'm having now is that my prescription isn't quite right and I've been back twice to try and adjust it.

Seriously though.....insurance or not...your eyes are irreplaceable. I hope you take action and you catch whatever infection it may be before permanent damage is done.

    Good luck to you!

  2. Honestly, if it is a eye infection, you need to find a way to get to a eye doctor, don't wait a week or two, this is something that could effect your eye sight for the rest of your life. If nothing else, go to a ER because you really need it looked at.

  3. this exact thing happened to me...i wear contacts too.

i went to the eye doctor cause i couldnt take it anymore....and he said with all the allergy and stuff in the air...it was an eye virus..he gave me drops for the pain. my white part of my eyes were really red..and swollen around the color part hah

you need to go get it looked at....

  4. Sounds like conjunctavitus my dear.  You have pink eye which is EXTEREMELY contagious.

YOU MUST take out the contacts b/c they are keeping the bacteria in your eye and making it worse.

  5. Keep lens out of the affected eye.

get to the eye doc or the ER. (the ER can diagnose basis eye issues with dye and a special light)

only uses eye drops that are saline based.  No chemical drops like visine or other "get the red out drops" these drops only constrict the blood vessels in your eye.

Please DO NOT mess with cornea issues...they are very serious and can scar your vision forever if untreated...and sometimes when treated late.

    Please seek eye care.

    Good luck.

  6. You only get two eyes......you need to see the eye Dr.

  7. Schedule an appt with your optometrist, it sounds like you do have an eye infection...

I would suggest throwing away your contacts and sticking with glasses until then. Also, use Clear Eyes drops frequently, the saline in it helps to clear up the infection and your vision a bit. But your going to need to get real medication from your optometrist to fully heal it.

  8. You need to see a dr.  Even if it's not an eye dr.  Try calling the local Walmart or Target and see if they have a vision center.  Usually if there's a vision center, there's an optometrist on site as well.  If this goes on too long, it could cause permanent damage.  I am sorry your  mom is sick, but your health is important too.

  9. You may have an inflammatory event related to your contact lenses or you may have an infection.  In either case, discontinue your contact lenses and see your eye doctor as soon as possible (you really should go immediately).  In the meantime, place preservative-free artificial tears in your eye every two hours while awake to keep it hydrated.  Do not return to lenses until your eye doctor gives you clearance.
