My rock band fender guitars are not working...?

Could the batteries be getting low? How can you tell? I am in the middle of a song it will just stop working. On the screen it will say that i am holding a note like red or green and then it wont respond to anything. Not the start button not even if i turn the guitar off. Any ideas?

Maybe you should get rechargeable batteries if you're gonna play for a long time.

Or the plug is loose.
