My room A/c keeps freezing up, why and how do I fix this?

  1. If it's colder than what you set it at, it's your thermostat!!  That is what controls your A/C.  VERY VERY VERY Easy to fix just go to home depot or Lowes and they will have the part you will need!!!!!!!  Dont hire a HVAC they will over price you!!!


  2. it could be a few things but the most common are 1 you need to change your filter 2 it could've leaked freon

  3. If filter and coil is clean check the freon charge by putting your hand up and down the evaporator coil, it should be cold from top to bottom if only half the coil gets cold you sound like it could be low on gas. If all the above check out OK then place a fan on the floor 3-4 feet in front to push the air away from the unit.

  5. Run the fan ONLY for 20 or 30 minutes.This will melt the ice.Check the filter and coil cleanliness.After 30 minutes ,run it as normal and it will begin to cool.
