  1. first u must understand the resources of bad smell either or .its location, may near the toilet, any toilet, anyhow ,

  2. First off what's causing the smell...?  Is it old food/plates or dishes in the room that need cleaning or dirty clothes hamper or dirty sneakers.. Where is the smell coming from?  I would OPEN the windows first of all.....OPEN the closet(s) as well!   Let the room air out... Next I would strip the bed and launder the blankets, sheets etc...

Get the vacuum and vacuum the mattress with the onboard attachments... If you don't have onboard attachements and hand held vac or even a shop vac will do the trick!

Clear the room of clutter... Put away any books, magazines etc.... Until the room/carpet/flooring is clear.... Check under bed... Some scary stinky things have been known to "hide" under the bed!

Open the closets and check for smells if you have "stinky" shoes... Get them OUT of the room and air them outside...

Wipe down all surfaces.. If your not sure about cleaner use a slightly damp rag with a bucket of vinegar/water.. Wipe down furniture... It will smell icky at first but, that will go away!  Once complete... Vacuum ALL soft surfaces... You can sprinkle the floor/carpet with baking soda and let it sit 30 min. Vacuum it up.... It will take care of any lingering odors in the carpet....

    Good luck

  3. SOAP?

  4. first you need to strip the curtains and bedding start washing them, then wash the walls with murphys oil soap or some mild detergent make sure you get the baseboards and trim also and rinse well.  Then sprinkle baking soda on the carpet and any rugs that cannot be washed and allow to sit for at least 30 minutes don't forget the closet floor.  Then vacuum it all up, you may need to repeat a second time.  Then take a several oranges and slice them up and place them in bowls around your room and closet and allow them to sit in your room for the night with the door closed.  That should take care of it.  If your carpets haven't been cleaned in awhile and you have stains I suggest you skip the baking soda trick and get them scrubbed.

  5. I agree with Bic, all soft furnishings need to be cleaned as well as the hard surfaces too because they absorb odors. Also, making sure your laundry is kept clean and not sitting around may help.

As far as having a pleasant scent in your room afterwards, I would get an oil burner, either tea light or electric, or a plug in aromatherapy ball and use essential oils. Breathing in those toxic chemical fumes from artificial room fresheners just adds to the toxin load in your body and over time this is harmfull to your health.

  6. The solution to your problem depends on what is causing the odor.  Is your house/room damp?  If so, a dehumidifier can help to dry it out and reduce any musty odor.

Do you have carpet?  I like to use carpet fresh sprinkle (can't remember exact brand name).  If you have carpet and pets have urinated on it - the only way to get rid of the smell may be to rip up the carpet.

I open the windows in my house whenever possible to air it out as I'm a smoker.  I also like to burn tart warmers - just remember to blow out the tea light candle before you leave the house.    Good luck.
