I have my ceiling fan on high a floor fan on high and another fan on oscillate on high and my room still stays about 10-12 degrees hotter than the rest of my house. The air conditioning vent isn't covered up so it should keep my room cool, but it doesn't. Also I have tried opening the window at night but if I sleep in to late the hot air comes in and makes it worse. Please help I think it is affecting my sleep as I seem to wake up at 6AM no matter what time I went to bed. Thanks for any help.

  1. BY EATING ICE CREAM

  2. See if there are any dampers on the ducts coming from the main unit that could be adjusted to increase the air flow to the room.  You might have to insulate the walls in that room.  Also, be sure your windows don't leak.  And, if you haven't had the unit outside cleaned lately it might help to clean the coils or have them cleaned by a professional.  Be sure the air filter is clean.

  3. keep your door open and the windows open.don't leave clothes lying around the creates clutter

  4. Keep a Fan........... Also When you go to sleep leave your door open so the air can from the other room touch each other and Make it cooller....... Same thing happened to me

  5. always keep ur door open

  6. Hot air rises - cold air sinks - so if you have a 2 (or more) story house, open the upstairs vents wide and close off or diminish the air flow thru the downstairs vents.  Reverse it when you turn on the heat in winter.  That's what I do and it works great!

  7. At night you should close all unnessescary vents in the rest of the house. This will direct more of the pressure to your room. Sounds like you may need another system if this one can't handle the load.

  8. open ur door, window, turn on a fan...get all that hot air out..

  9. I've found that just keeping a decorative bowl filled with water will cool down the room significantly because it adds moisture to the room.  Also, if you get a window fan that doesn't just blow cool air in but also pushes hot air out-that works really well for me.

  10. keeping the room dark helps, open a window with the shade down and the air running to help vent the hot air out, maybe get your own room air conditioning cooler... But really, if a room is well insulated unless you cool it won't stay cool. hope this helps!

  11. I agree with Jeanne.  Close the all the vents in the downstairs.  That is where the air goes to first, with not much left by the time it reaches the upstairs.  My house is the exact same way, only the downstairs cools off if I have all of the vents open.  Sometimes I close all of the vents in the house except the one to the bedroom and it cools off really nicely.

  12. Get a new a/c

  13. It is fairly common for a house to have one room that is hotter than the rest...unfortunately it is your room.  The best bet would be to get an A/C window unit for your room, and then close the door when you are running it.

Also, make sure that your ceiling fan is on the summer setting, not the winter setting.  The winter setting pushes the hot air down, whereas the summer setting pulls the hot air up and pushes cold air down.  If you don't have a switch to change it, then that would mean yours doesn't have a winter setting; although I think most do.

If you can't get a/c and your fan is set right, try getting a fan to put in your window.  This will pull in the cooler air at night, so it is cooling the cooler outside air, rather than the hot inside air.

    Good luck!
