It was really really clean for the first time in years, and I should've known.

It's your sixteenth birthday party. You put at least 17 kids in a clean room with tinsel, soda (which surprisingly wasn't spilled at all), cups, glowsticks, gift bags, silly string, and balloons, YOU DON'T CLEAN THE ROOM RIGHT BEFORE UNLESS IT'S JUST TO STRAIGHTEN UP SO NOTHING BREAKS.

So I made a horrible mistake.

And this was about 3 months ago. :D

I need to stop putting this off, especially because it's gotten worse since then.

Please help, where should I start? What should I do?

Oh, and I can't exactly just pick one section to start with.

It's just one huge mess intertwined. D:

  1. get dsome music on and talk on the phone while ur doin it itl go by fast or play a movie.

    good luck:)

  2. Invite a clean freak friend over and have them help you and then buy them food as a thank you.  It has worked for me for YEARS!!!!   Good luck

  3. Obviously you want to remove the trash first, grab a couple trash bags and dig in. Then work your way from top to bottom. For clothes, separate into three piles, whites, colors and delicate then move them to the hall or to the washing machine... be sure to grab the bed linens too.

Once you can see the floor, look for things that wont vacuum up like pens, straws and large pieces of plastic then vacuum. About all that is left is dusting and make the bed and put up the laundry.

Unless your room is a pigs sty, you should be done in a hour of steady going after it. If you ever stop one time, you'll loose your pace and good chance you'll quit so stay busy and "Git-er-done".

  4. go grab a garbage bag and throw away anything that you dont want or cant use again.

then get the vacumn cleaner and suck up the rest. then dust everything.

put what you want to keep in a cardboard box.

  5. "Taking the first step is like being half done."

I recommend starting with actual trash first.

  6. Pick a number--let's say 16 for your birthday--and walk through the room with a garbage bag and find 16 items to throw away.  Now find 16 items to put away where they belong.  Now go about your normal routine.  Doing this once or twice a day will wipe out the problem in just a few days (as long as you don't create any new messes in the meantime) and you don't feel overwhelmed!

  7. I'm am such a neat freak now... but back in the day...high school particularly... when my room would be horrrrrrid..this is what i'd do...

I'd look around around and just like feel overwhelllmed!!

So, I would be like, ok, do this in steps, b/c there is so much you dont know where to start...

1- take a trashbag around w/ you and just start picking up alll trash...set it aside

2-start picking up like all clothing items... throw dirty in the hamper and hang up or fold what isn't.

3-start picking up your misc. items... like if you make up is strung from here to china... search for all that then put it in your drawer or organizer...and go on.. just catagorize

    4... make ur bed... whatever

5 dust or wipe off... while neating and organizing

    6- sweep

    7- start on ur laundry...

if you feel need to add an extra step... go ahead...

i just catagorize and go step by step...you focuse better and it gives you a place to start...

*lol... u'll feel so much better when it's done

    Good luck!

  8. Set a timer for 15 minutes, clean or organize it and stop when the timer goes off (even if you are on a roll). Tomorrow, same thing....and so on, and so on.

  9. a huge mess but still only one room,....right ?

    start by making the bed.

then pick everything up from the floor one piece at a time, those are either garbage or keep .so toss the garbage and throw all the rest on the bed.

after the floor is free of anything which should not be on it then , sweep and wash it.

then the only thing left is to put away all the things on the bed .

remember to have some great tunes on and don't answer the phone til it is done .

done like this it shouldn't take more than an hour or two at most.

think how good you will feel when it is done.

  10. Just start off throwing away anything you don't need. That's what I do. Then I go onto straightening out all the drawers and taking out everything that doesn't belong there and putting it in it's right spot. Then I move onto the floor.

    :3 Hope I could help.
