My roommate's into "sounding"?

Apparently he gets some sort of kick out of squeezing BB pellets and things like that into his urinary tract and then taking them back out later on. It doesn't strike me as a particularly good idea, and sometimes he forgets, and they end up sitting in the toilet for a while.

I'm pretty sure it's hard on the pipes to the home, and I'd imagine there are some health issues that could be a problem.

All the internet connections I normally use have filters of some kind, so it's tough to get good information about the risks for these kinds of behaviors, but if there are any, I'd like to be able to warn my roommate before something horrible happens to him.

Usually, the safest way to do that is with sounding rods:  stainless steel rods with the correct shape.  And having them sterilized is always a good idea;  one can get a nasty UTI if they're not sterile.

I've tried it once (a friend was into this);  it's a wild ride.  Not for me, but I can understand why some guys are into this.

Well, not to embarrass you, but if your "roommate" is really your boyfriend, there is nothing to be ashamed about to say so. And if he is, it sounds like he is very controlling of you to keep you from most Internet sites. Please keep yourself connected with other friends and don't let him completely control you. That is not healthy for you and could be a sign that he is not a safe person. Whether you would say that you care if he is or not. If you ever feel that he is putting you in dangerous situations, seek outside help and get out of that relationship.

Tell him you are OK with him sounding but do it safely. Use instruments meant for sounding. You can find them at some adult stores, on-line, medical supplies, etc.

If he insists on using things like beads of BBs, when you find them in the toilet tell him to fish them out. You are correct that toilets were not meant to flush BBs. You should not have to clean up after him.

Talk to some emergency room staff if you want to hear horror stories. I used to work in clinics and hospitals and there is always the "weirdest thing in the p***s or a**s" stories. Your friend may be a contender some day. Just because it went in easy, does not mean it will come out as easy. Ouch!

Tell him to graduate to glass thermometers. He wouldn't have to worry about forgotten pellets. Perhaps he would enjoy anal beads as well....

That's a very very bad idea. The skin is very sensitive and can be damaged very easily. The things he puts in there give him a high risk for an infection, not a particularly could place to have one. Also, what if something got stuck, that would be one uncortable visit to the emergency room.

That area is extremely sensitive, and whatever he sticks in there should be very clean and sanitary. If not he could get an infection...ouch!

As far as leaving them around, gross! People are entitled to be into whatever kink they want, but clean up afterwards and keep it private
