jumped out of the web. So I'm not sure if she actually molted or not but she is acting very protective of the the web that she constructed. I she just lays on top of it and if there is any slight movement to the cage she hurry and runs back to it. is this normal behavior and what should I do about it?

  1. Oh! That's what happened to my tarantula. I'm pretty sure it was just making a web, and probably showing that it is more comfortable with the habitat.I found out most of the new world tarantulas don't go on their backs to molt as quickly as the ordinary old world types. They shed off their coats pieces at a time, just as mine is doing now. It's been a happening for almost the whole summer now for my tarantula (the shedding of the coating piece by piece). He seems to be doing fine because he's eating also, so I wouldn't be so afraid if you see your tarantula to start losing hair. When he is done shedding his abdomen hairs off, he will develope a gray line in the middle of the pink shedded window. Thisis the sign of the tarantula's true molt, that is near.
