Question:

My running shoes smell...

I was walking my dogs in some long wet grass and of course my running shoes got soaked... I left them to dry and they dried with this gross damp smell. So I washed them completely with detergent, stuck a dryer sheet in each one and left them angled upside down to dry... well they're dry but they still smell :S Is there anything around the house that would clean them? I won't be able to buy some odor inserts to put in them or anything like that.

Any suggestions?

  1. sprinkle baking soda

  2. Yes, baking soda should work.  Also, you may try charcoal or coffee as they too soak up odors.

  3. put powder in ur shoes and lets them dry really well when u finsh washing them

  4. 1.  Scrunch up newspaper and let it sit in them overnight

    2.  Sprinkle kitty litter in them and let sit overnight

    3.  Put some baking soda in them (you can do this before you wear them or overnight)

    4.  Let them sit outside in the sun and fresh air

My running shoes get damp and washed all the time and they don't smell from that.  Perhaps they could have sweat odors if they are used a lot?

  5. so I see every one else has already said it but baking soda will really work.  You can even put some in right before you put them on.  It soaks the smell right up!
