My sacking served England team well, admits former captain Kevin Pietersen

After England’s great triumph in the fourth Test of the Ashes at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Kevin Pietersen has admitted that his sacking from the captaincy of the national team helped the squad in improving in all departments.
Pietersen was of the opinion that if he had not been removed from the realms of captaincy then the team would have never been able to retain the Urn against Australia.
The middle order batsman said, “You know what ... I have never said this before ... I lost the captaincy, I got rid of the captaincy for the good of English cricket, we would not be here today if I had not done what I did then. There is no way in this world
that we would have continued under that regime and won the Ashes again in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 after 24 years."
Pietersen and coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Moores-c81848 were both sacked by the England and Wales Cricket Board in early 2009, after the two had strained their relationship. Pietersen while being skipper was not happy with Moores’ methods and wanted him removed. Their relationship
further deteriorated after England’s disastrous tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in 2008, where the English lost an ODI series by 5-0.
Things between Pietersen and Moores became extremely unpleasant after that series in the subcontinent and the then general perception was that one of them would have to go for good. But the ECB took a shocking decision and sacked both of them.
This paved the way for Andrew Strauss to lead the team and Andy flower to coach the squad. Pietersen also praised the role of Strauss and Flower in England's historic Ashes win in Australia after 24 years.
Pietersen said, “Strauss and Andy Flower need all the plaudits for an unbelievable 18 months and an unbelievable preparation for this team, and they are the right leadership for this team."
Strauss has created history by becoming the first English captain after Mike Gattling to beat the Australians in Australia and also retain the Urn. According to many former cricketers, this is probably the most prolific English squad in nearly a decade.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Darren-Gough-c52450, a former English pacer, has dubbed the current English side as the “Golden Generation” after their win in Melbourne.
