Thanks Scorpio.

I tried to change the wires but no luck. Also the microwave when closed the timer only turns on. If you have any circuit drawing (interlock) can you forward to me at gandhi3116@rogers.com. any help is appreciated.

  1. If the unit operates with the door open, you or a tech have incorrectly wired the switch. Most switches have a common connection, a NO (normally open) and a NC (normally closed) connection. Check which one it is connected to and ensure it is correct. This means that the switch just sitting there with no interaction with the door hooks would be normally open. As soon as the hook touches the microswitch, it would then be closed to complete the circuit.

I'm surprised it did not blow the fuse since most Microwaves have 3-4 safety switches.

  2. I believe the door interlocks are in series, raising the possibility that the both switches are defective, and/or the one that was replaced is terminated wrong.
