  1. what problem would that be?

  2. If you are not 18 then your parents are the ones who have to request testing as nothing can be done legally without their consent.

  3. If you are talking about a learning problem, your parents will have to ask the school.

The ONLY way schools are legally required to help with learning problems is if the child is in special ed or have a 504 plan.

If a child has neither of these, the school does not have to provide ANY extra help at all.

Schools ONLY do testing to see if a child qualifies for special ed services. They do NOT do testing 'just to see' what a childs problems are.

Your parents will have to write a letter to the district special ed director requesting 'a full educational evaluation testing in all areas of suspected disabilities to determine special education eligibility as specified by IDEA law..

These words HAVE to be used in the letter or the school will ignore your parents too.

Schools and parents have to follow the IDEA laws about special ed and the child can not ask for the evaluation (testing) the parent has to ask for this IN WRITING.

    Good luck, sweety!

  4. tested you for what?  who did you tell?  what is your problem?  if you have a diagnosis of something that impacts your school work, get your written report and take it to your guidance counselor.  Kids don't just get tested on a whim, there's a process.  Schools have to provide interventions before determining that someone may have a disability and should be tested for special education.  For the record you or your folks can write letters requesting testing, but interventions still have to be conducted according to federal law.  We are only required to respond to the letter with our actions, we are not required to test at that point.

  5. So why don't you set up an appointment with a psychologist and have the testing done. Your doctor may need to make the referral. Just because the school district didn't do their job, doesn't mean it should stop you from getting help if you need it. It could open doors to you for other programs and educational assistance.
