My school dosen't have IB classes?

My school does not offer IB classes. Ut offers AP, and I am basically every AP class my school has to offer. But for some od reason we do not have IB. Does this disadvantage me in applying to good colleges or will they understand?

  1. Having AP classes can be just as useful as having IB. The only difference is that you must take the AP test and score high enough for certain schools to accept the credit.

    I would just check with the Office of Admissions at the college you wish to attend to check what score is accepted to receive full credit for the course.

  2. AP students are just as likely to get into college as IB students...

    Anyways, they don't look at every student in one big group.  They select the best out of each school.  For instance, a student with a 3.5 at an inner city school where he is among the top students is more likely to get into a college than an IB student at a well-off school that makes B's and C's yet has a higher GPA.

  3. No, colleges don't rank high schools. Colleges want to see that you took advantage of the resources available to you, and it sounds like you did.  

  4. AP classes are first year university courses, where as IB is an advanced class that is internationally recognized. So, AP is to skip one year of university which shows that you can learn at a faster pace, where IB shows that you are an all around qualified student.
