  1. ill assume that you are pretty knowlegeable about volleyball so im not going to explain in much detail.

Serving: Remind them to keep their elbows up when they serve.

    Hitting: Keep elbows up

3 step approach (left right left)

    Keep eyes on the ball

**important** don't go to hit the ball until after you see the set

Bumping: keep hips, shoulders, thumbs aligned to the target

STAY LOW! make them pretend that they are sitting on a chair!

Setting: tell them to make a triangle with their thumbs and their index fingers. when setting they should look through that triangle and be able to see the ball.

most importantly, dont make them feel under pressure to be good or feel bad about sucking. it's all about the mental state.

    good luck

  2. You want your team to have positions and you want your players to play different spots. Work with some of the better players on being outside hitters, middle hitters, middle blockers, outside blockers, and setters. You want some kind of formation down like a 5-1 or 6-2 meaning you have 5 players and 1 setter or 6 players and 2 setters.

A formation will better your chances of winning. This way your team doesn't just hit the ball around - you have a goal. Remember BUMP, SET, AND SPIKE.

Now, serving is 8% mental and 20% physical. You have a better chance at scoring a point for a serve if it's overhand than you do underhand. Make your team practice hitting from the 10ft line, the 20ft line, and finally the actual serving line. This will improve basic aiming skills and helps them to get the serve over the net.

Bumping is something you MUST work on. Practice bumping in a circle with your teammates. Also, practice spiking and having someone receiving the spike. Think of different ways to better your bumping - it's very essential to the game.

Spiking is something that you can get most of your points from. This is where your outside and middle hitters come in. You have 6 position on the court. Three front row and three back row. The two player on each opposite ends of the front row are your outside hitters. The middle player is of course your middle hitter. There is a three-step approach. Using whichever foot you feel comfortable with, take a large step from the spiking line, followed by two smaller steps and smack the ball down over the net as hard as your can. The key here is to follow through so the ball goes down. When you hit the ball and it goes up and over, that's not a spike.

Setting is also important. A setter will play positions in the front eaisly, but when the setter is in the back - that's when it gets a bit complicated. The setter with go behind the player in front of them and the take their place as the ball is served.

I hope you become a better team. If you have any question, feel free to e-mail me.
