It is a 2007 BMS scooter and today I was riding it and it began to putter and then would cut out. When I stopped the muffler was over heating. I am not very mechanically inclined so any advice might help. Thanks.

  1. if its a 2 stroke it the exsaust may be bunged up with oil....

  2. Usually an overheating muffler is a sign of fuel being burned in the muffler. If it is carburated the jets would be too rich (too largew). If it is injected, the O2 sensor may be failing. Yes, a scooter can have fuel injection, these are DOT and EPA(even california) certified scotters.

Almost all BMS are 4 stroke no oil added.

  3. running too lean/not enough oil in your mixture

  4. sounds like you are running it too hard
