I tried to make a new file and it said "Could Not Complete The Command Because Scratch Disks Are Full" so I went to Edit>Preferences>Performance and when I go to the Scratch Disk box I can't click on anything. I don't know how to change the scratch disk or transfer it to another file. Help would really be apreciated!

  1. crsimon36's answer is the first thing I'd check, then I'd check my hard drive - you could be out of space. If it isn't your own personal music and movie collection hogging the drive ;-) it could be temp files. I've had some really weird issues with GIANT temp files from Photoshop (a couple Gb each)!

If you are using a PC, here is some great detailed information on how to find all those evil temp files and get them off your machine.

  2. Closing an image should clear the scratch disk.  However, Edit > Purge > All will also clear the scratch disk.  Edit > Preferences to increase the size of the scratch disk.
