When I'm eighteen, I'm going to Italy as an exchange student. What are some tips about Italy that I should know when I go over there?

  1. I'm Italian and we are always happy when a student arrives for exchange from other countries, especially  from the US( at least I think so, there was an American student in my high school 2 years ago :-) ) don't worry... u are likely to be accepted without any problem.. u will enjoy life in Italy a lot( if u stay for 6 month and not for a life... I'm joking.. living here it's not so bad..) Italian is not very easy to learn, but after a month here u'll be able to speak already well...our school is very different.. u are gonna stay  in the same class for all the lessons and you can't choose the subjects to study.. even though for foreigners there are helps at the beginning... nightlife is very interesting and you are gonna be more free than in the Us, for example u can drink what u want and go to good clubs and discos( where exactly are u going in Italy? I may give u same more info...)I hope u'll enjoy this awesome experience.. write me if you want more tips... ciao

p.s: in another question u say u are13... how can u know u'll be in Italy when u are 18? are u just joking?

  2. All 18 year olds are alike..... on the surface. Scratch a little and you'll find the differences. The best tip I can give you is not to expect anything. Do remember that you will be in a different culture. So even if you and your Italian contemporaries listen to the same music, wear the same clothes and even watch the same TV programs there will be some cultural differences that will / may surprise you. Therefore accept the differences as just that and not something to criticize ("they do it differently or think about things and so they must be weird and or crazy"). Accept the difference and you will be accepted.
