  1. Because it freaks them out they need light ot see!

    They get scared when it turns off!

    I suggest not doing that!

    They can die because it will turn there body into shock!

    so please don't do that...

Like a lot of fish out there....the serpae tetra are nocturnal and actually like dim areas.  What you may want to do, get some floating plant cover...it will dim the tank a bit, but they will use it.  Also have a cycle...it's not 100% sunlight where you live, unless you live in the Arctic circle or opposite pole.  So turn your lights off for 12 hours and on for 12 hours...fish thrive when they have a cycle.  They have habits by daylight and nightlight...just like we do.

  4. many fish are nocturnal and enjoy there time at night. this time is when some fish hunt for for food and are most active.
