His parents are recently seperated and the home life is chaotic. His mother has a boyfriend, his uncle lives in the garage with his girlfriend, his aunt lives upstairs and his father lives next door, while his little sister shares a room with his mother and boyfriend. He wants to live with his father who, openly and verbaly, has a problem with heavier people.

  1. Call Social services

  2. Sounds to me like this is a situation that requires professional help.   You may not be able to help this little boy yourself, but you may want to voice your concerns to the Department of Children and Families.  They will do an investigation on this situation, and hopefully give your godchild the help he needs.

  3. That is so sad. Is he taking any type of ADD/ADHD meds. I strongly encourage you to speak to the family about this concern. I also think you should make an effort to spend time with him. Talk about how we are all different & that if he doesn't eat a little more he won't have muscle for (football, riding bikes...whatever he enjoys) Encourage him to cook with you. He may learn to enjoy food that way, My kids love to pick out 1 new thing each week to cook together. Sometimes it's yummy, sometimes not! But still fun!

  4. While I do agree that professional help is needed, I think some other factors should be looked into first.  What are the living conditions? Is there food available,? Does any one prepare food for him? Is he in need of medical attention? IS he drinking? He may be eating and vomiting due to nerves from  situation. He may not be eating. He is too young to decide who he should live with. That is for children services and the court. You say recently separated....and chaotic. What is chaotic?  Recently separated and both parents have other people living with them? How long has he not been eating? Talk to the school about getting some mental health assistance. They will also report to child services, if necessary. Talk to the parents and find out what is going on for sure prior to calling children services.  Also, the father having issues with heavy people is not a reason why the child should not live with him.  Talk to a professional mental health expert and seek their recommendation first on situation.

  5. sounds like this kid needs some professional help....seriously...call a clinic or his doctor and tell them the situation...you dont want him to end up in the hospital for malnutrition..of anorexia. You need to do something because it sounds like his parents are ignoring the problem....call around and find out if a professional can call and speak to his parents and say they got an anonymous call regarding the boys health....

  6. Call CPS. This child needs help.
