My seven year old son had eight nosebleeds today. All were heavy and lasted maybe ten minutes or a little more. He gets nosebleeds a lot but never this badly. I've taken him to an ENT and he had a camera inserted in through the nostril and down his throat and the doctor showed us what we were looking at on a tv but they didn't find anything out of the ordinary and told me to use bacitracin. My son also had his adnoids removed and his tonsils cauterized when he was three. He seems fine other than the bleeds that come out of one nostril and seem to strike at any given moment. I plan on calling his pediatrician on Monday but I wanted to see if people have had similar experiences. I use a saline spray each night and tonight also used vaseline. Thanks for any advice.

  1. Put a humidifire in his room..

it helped my cousin when she had nose bleeds..

hope i helped.. and hope your son is ok!

  2. Take him to the doctor...

  3. Cool mist humidifier and an icepack when it bleeds.

  4. I get them all the time as well.  I don't like to use spray as it can further agitate the nose.  Vasoline does work wonders though.  Don't let him pick it though.  Honestly, the viens are probably too close to the surface of the skin, thus the nosebleeds do occur.  By the way, 10 minutes isn't a long time, I have had amny that last over half an hour.

  5. A few months ago I kept getting continuous heavy nosebleeds. My mum finally took me to the doctor and apparently I had a artery exposed and so they put silver nitrate on it and I haven't had a nose bleed since.

  6. My son has alot of allergies, and no nosebleeds.

I had nosebleeds when the temp changed rapidly.

They are also a sign of high blood pressure.

  7. Put a humidifier in his room at night, this will help a lot. If these are this frequent, you should also consider having the veins in his nose cauterized, so they don't break and cause the nosebleeds.

  8. Tell him to quit pickin his boogers lol

  9. I've had clear liquid brain fluid run down from my nose three

different times in my whole life and l Lost conssciousness

and never got checked. Your kid may be having brain seizures

and not realize it. get em checked.

  10. It's best to talk to some one professional about this because some one might give you the wrong information.

  11. I had the same issue turned out to be a bleeding disorder called factor five dysfunction. Means the blood does not clot very fast. I had my nose cauterized it help for a while. but if the blood vessels are close to the surface the nose will bleed whenever it drys out.

  12. i used to get nosebleeds alot as a child. my dr told me it was due to my excessive allergies. ask your pediatrician if this could be your sons issue... good luck and i hope everything turns out just fine.

  13. It could be allergies. Has any doctor considered testing him for an allergy? It's actually quite common. Web MD has a good video on nosebleeds caused by allergies.

  14. I had this problem too when i was about your sons age.  what my mom did was put a cool wash cloth on my forehead and on the back of my neck and Vaseline on my nose this would always work with stopping the bloody nose

  15. OH GOSH! That is really serious! I have no experience w/ that what so ever, but yes, indeed call the pediatrician, ASAP. That is not natural [obviously] Hope everything works out!

P.S.- I suggest you DON'T USE saline spray because I and my younger sister have been using that for allergies, and sometimes, we get nosebleeds because of that.
