My shift key isn't working?

My shift key hasn't been working for a while now, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. When it isn't working it acts as some sort of shortcut button, it will usually make me go back to the site I was previously on when I'm using a browser and other times it shows extremely strange numbers/codes such as

+ 135789 135789 13578+=p

Does anybody know what's causing this and how I can fix it?

try to clean your keyboard. if it doesn't work, its possible that your keyboard is already defective

Maybe your keyboard needs some cleaning.
