Question:

My shoes never seem to last very long?

I am a female and like to wear heels. Not very big ones but maybe a couple of inches. Anyway, in Cambridgeshire our sidewalks aren't very even and I seem to ruin my heels and soles. I buy good shoes from nice places. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem?

  1. I think some people are just heavier on their feet than others - not to do with weight just how you place your feet when you walk. I think your best bet is to get your shoes re-heeled on a regular basis. If you ask at the cobblers they should be able to recommend the most hard-wearing type of heel / sole.

The trick is to get it done before the heel wears down too much.

  2. Heels are notorious for that, i try not to wear them very far or often, instead of spending loads of one pair and wearing them all the time,  i just buy lots of cheaper ones and and wear them each a little, they dont get so worn out that way and i have more choice :P

  3. They are called pavements in this country.

Buy some bigger healed shoes, aka wider, not taller.

  4. I have exactly the same problem. I bought a new pair of shoes just last month and they already need re-heeling. I think I tread heavy on them, but even when I have new metal heels put on they still break off! I think someone will have to invent a heel that doesn't break for us heavy footed girls! x

  5. haha since when were there 'sidewalks' in Cambridgeshire? shouldn't that be pavements!

You could always get them re-heeled or re-soled!

Try Next or M&S who make good shoes but they shouldn't wear out after such a short time.

  6. If you are wearing stiletto heels to walk around town in they will wear down very quickly.  Always get your shoes looked at and maintained by a cobbler as soon as they show signs of wear - they will last a lot longer.

  7. "good" shoes from "nice places"? Hm. Well-made shoes shouldn't fall apart from walking on sidewalks. I walk around Manhattan all day and my shoes are fine.

What is wrong with them? Are they breaking or splitting? You might need to find better shoes from nicer places.

  8. I always buy leather shoes as they are much more comfortable and find they last for ages - sometimes far too long as I get fed up with them.

The only thing I find a problem is having them heeled. I don't know what it is they use nowadays but it wears down very quickly. The soles are fine and last for ever.

Moral is buy good quality shoes and they will last.
