my father and i have took the gun apart trying to find the model number and just cant. but we did find that after taking the butt pad off their is a fairly large hollow space in the stock. it is an ithaca 20 gauge double barrel shotgun and trying to find another like it on the internet has been a failure thus far. i did try the web sites that were suggested to my first question but they were of little help. if anyone has any type of advice on how to find the model number, how old, and valuable this heirloom is please help, it would be greatly appreciated

  1. Check these two sites..>> www.briley.com/articles/grandpas_shotgun html...... and Ithaca gun co.com

  2. It may or may not have had a model number on it. If you could attach a good quality picture, someone may be able to match it up. Ithaca is a very fine American gun company that goes way back. I found that their website has contact information on it. May I also suggest that you contact them directly. Most gun companies keep very good records and if you could describe the shotgun and provide them the serial number, they should be able to give you full details on the model and year of manufacture. I've included a link below. Once you have that info, it would be a lot easier to establish a value for the gun. Good luck on your hunt for more info!
