My shower does not have hot water?

My landlord fixed it the other day but now it seems its broken again. How do you fix the pilot light so my shower will have hot water.

You don't - unless you know what you're doing, it's very dangerous to tinker with gas. Please get onto your landlord or the agent immediately and make them fix it properly, because leaking gas can be deadly.

Edit: anyone giving this correct answer a thumbs-down is a moron. A tenant should never, ever try to effect repairs themselves, even in an area which isn't potentially life-threatening.

Is the water heater in a closet?  It might not have enough ventilation, when the humidity is too high.  Do you have air conditioning?  How does the air get to where the water heater is?  Air conditioned air is lower humidity, so it helps it burn better, and makes it less likely to go out.  If it's in a closet with ventilation through louvers on the closet door or doors, it might help to take the door off, to get more ventilation.

What brand is the water heater?  If it's Whirlpool, you should do a Google search for Whirlpool flame lock thermocouple.  Whirlpool was one of the best brands of appliances, until their water heater problems started ruining their name.

Replacing the thermocouple is relatively cheap and often will fix such problems, at least temporarily, depending on what really caused the problem.  But if it's Whirlpool, it's more complicated, and you should read up on the problems, by following the links from the search.

Another thing that can make the pilot go out is a small leak in the tank.  If so, the whole water heater has to be replaced as soon as possible, before the leak gets bigger, and floods your whole place.

Replace the thermocouple.  If it is bad, the pilot light will go  out.  If the thermocouple has already been replaced, then it needs a new valve.
