Ok, I've asked about my little red Betta before, i got some good answers but it hasn't really helped, most people said he was going to die, well to all those people, He's still alive! I was told that he had Ick when I told everyone that he had a white spot on top of his head, So i cleaned and medicated his bowl, that cleared up but now he has a big red spot in the same place, which i fear to be bacterial infection (advanced), if he does have this, then i might not be able to save him because i heard that the medication is very expensive, and i doubt I'll be able to afford it, What do you think? I don't know if this matters or not, but he should turn 1 in about November.

(It was pretty hard to take photos of him, so the photos aren't to great.)

  1. A betta should be kept in a 5 gallon heated filtered tank.  When you keep them in little plastic bowls they end up leading short lives from disease and stress.  Normal lifespan for a betta is 7 years if cared for properly.

  2. First of all, make sure he's in at least one gallon of water.  You also need to make sure the temperature of the water is about 80 degrees--a small heater (Hydor makes good ones) will do the trick.  Bettas are tropical fish, so they need heat to stay healthy.

Keep his water very clean and warm, and hopefully he'll heal up.  It's hard to say what exactly the problem is from your description/your pics, but I can see that he does look pale and his fins are clamped, which is a sign that he's not happy.

  3. it might be an reaction from the previous medication

  4. purchasing medicine for your betta will be quite expensive

but purchasing a new betta will only cost you change that you find under your couch... but if you really love your betta then do all you can to save him

it might be normal im not really sure maybe its just a part of him... (color change) but ya that is unusual...

  5. bad photos!

change 3/4 of the water and hope it will get better.

its just a fish you'll get over it

  6. feed him to the cat, that should help.

  7. awww.. that sad. take him to the pet store and ask them what is wrong

  8. I'm sorry hun but I don't think there is much you can do.

  9. Sounds like he's going to a betta place!

  10. ask or (call or visit) the pet store or vet

  11. ur photos suck but i am officailly grossed out my dad just amed homemade cinnomon rolls and that last picture just grossed me out Thanks

I think he is too old or he is sick so id take him to the vet or just wait to see what happens

  12. it looks like ich and if it is sometimes you can fix it you can buy med and try it in the water and see if it helps it alot of times they do make it and not expensive you buy it where you got him walmart is where you can buy the stuff or kmart.

  13. they are only supposed to live for a couple of months so that is normal.

  14. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it may just be a scar.  What did you use to treat the Ick?
