My silver molly has randomly had two black spots appear just behind his/hes gills.?

i thought this could of been gravid spots then realized they are too far forward. what has caused these to appear?

  1. These spots could be caused by; ammonia poisoning, chemistry imbalance, bacteria or fungus, or simply just a colour change.

    To treat this, do a good 40% water change. Add a good all-round anti bacterial/anti fungal to the aquarium.

    If you have a test kit, test for ammonia and/or nitrite.

    Once you have completed the above steps, just wait for 2days. If the spots don't go away... they COULD be a simple colour change that is happening. If in doubt, contact your local fish specialists.

  2. its just a guess but it could have reached um...fishy puberty?! you know like men w/ the hair and the squeaky voices and the...uh... droppage of certain "things"!
