My sims2 keeps freezing, please help, im honestly annoyed.?

Question

Everytime i try to create a family, it freezes usually when im saving the family , the music keeps going and the houseglass/mouse keep moving but the game itself freezes so i cant do anything. But when i start up the sims and click a Lot with a family in it real quick, i can play the game with no problems but i can never play with my own family because of this problem. And just some info, i got a new computer with vista and i just bought the Double Dluxe edition so i shouldnt have any problems. im Dieing to play so please help =(

Well i play sims 2 on vista and if you have anything else on thats probably why also dont have a really large house if your graphics card cant handle it

Even with a nice new system you may be running low on RAM. Vista alone requires 1 gig to run. First thing to try is to  turn off any programs running in your background. Namely your antiviral/anti spyware programs. Both of those suck RAM and between them and Sims 2 you run out and your system freezes.
